Brimscombe Mill is a historic mill, and now a social enterprise hub in the Stroud Valleys, where you can find family activities, food, workshops, events and community. Come for lunch at The Long Table, browse pre-loved children’s items at Kids Stuff, find furniture at The Home Remedy, get your bike repaired at the Bike Drop, or join one of our events, talks or workshops.

We are open Monday to Saturday, everyone is welcome, whether you’re popping in for coffee, coming with children, joining an event, donating items, or simply having a look around.

  • At its heart is the best second hand shop selling everything you might need for a growing child. From prams to books, boardgames and clothes up to age 18 Kids Stuff is here to prove raising a child shouldn’t have to cost the earth. There is also a play area for children up to age 5, weekly drop in sessions and a lego table and colouring for entertainment at all times.

  • A Pay as You can restaurant with a difference, their vision ‘amazing things happen when we eat together’ is visible everyday through meals shared at the table. Serving lunch, coffee, cake and more The Long Table is the perfect place to meet a friend, make new ones and enjoy locally sourced meals where everyone is welcome.

  • The Bike Drop is our on site bike shop with a difference. They are on a mission to put cycling in everyone’s reach. The shop sells both refurbished and new bikes for adults and children and also has a full servicing workshop on site for all bikes including electric.

  • Selling Second hand vintage and new furniture, The Home Remedy is a furniture shop with a difference. From sofas to sideboards you’ll find all you need for every room in your house here. The team offer a collection service for donations and will also deliver your purchases to you. Look out for their regular upcycling courses too.

Climbing Commons now on site

Did you know that Brimscombe Mill is now host to one of the first community owned bouldering gyms in the country?

Climbing Commons is a community bouldering wall with the aim of putting climbing within the reach of more people. This is achieved using a commons model where the facility is owned and run by its members.

They are open for a variety of sessions in the first floor of our Sanctuary building, from babies to children to adults, there is a session for everyone.

Brimscombe Mill is a good place to come if you want a few things in one visit. You can have food at The Long Table, browse our social enterprise shops, children can enjoy the play area, donate items, or stay for an event or workshop.

We aim to make every visit as low cost and accessible as possible, The Long Table is a pay as you can restaurant, our play area is free to enjoy, we have a full size pool table, table tennis and table football all free to use for all too in our main space.

You do not need to book to visit the Mill, eat, shop or donate items during opening times. Some events and workshops do need booking, so please check the What’s On page before you come.

We are located just outside Stroud, with The Long Table, Kids Stuff, The Home Remedy and Bike Drop all based on site. Once in Brimscombe, head towards the Cotswold Canals Bookshop. Our driveway is opposite their entrance. Look for the big ‘Welcome’ sign above our front door.

Useful information

  • You can eat at The Long Table, visit Kids Stuff, browse reused furniture and homeware at The Home Remedy, get your bike repaired at Bike Drop, join events and workshops, donate items, or simply come and have a look around.

  • Our site is all on one level with ramps to get into the building. Once inside our site is wheelchair friendly. If you do need any help getting around please do ask any members of staff.

    We have a disabled toilet onsite.

    Our disabled parking is at the front of the site next to the Sanctuary.

  • We are housed in a historic warehouse, therefore do not have central heating. We do have spot heaters around the site and cosy log burner in our dining space.

    However, we do advise you to dress warm in the winter.

  • We love having children and families on site, we do ask that all children are supervised at all times as there are areas of unfenced water outside.

    • We have a play area for under 5’s.

    • We have free games for everyone; pool, table tennis, lego table and arcade machine.

    • We have a baby change unit near Kids Stuff.

    • We have a full calendar of events each school holiday. Click here to find out whats coming up.

  • We welcome dogs on site, but do ask that you keep them on leads at all time.

    We have a jar of dog treats at the drinks station.

  • Please do use our retreat room just outside the Home Remedy door. It is a private room with a window to the river. Perfect for taking 10 minutes to yourself. Flip the in use sign over when using and you will not be interupted.

  • We have a bike store at the back of our site for you to lock your bikes up when you come.

    We are situated next to the canal path so perfect for a post cycle coffee stop off.
