A day in the life

Caroline, Marketing Manager of Kids Stuff

We met with Caroline, Kid Stuff’s Marketing Manager, to find out what happens on a typical day at the much loved children’s shop.

Anyone looking after a child in the Stroud district likely knows about Kids Stuff. The space at Brimscombe Mill is a regular meeting place for local parents and carers to shop and entertain their children. Whether you are looking for clothes, books, a pram or an emergency birthday present - they have it all.

Kids Stuff supports local families in need, and builds community by selling pre-loved and affordable children's items. Everything on offer has been donated by their loyal community, which for the team, means regular sorting of donations. ‘Each morning the latest donations are sorted and the racks are toped up. As thats going on i’ll be taking photos and videos of the latest stock ready to post on our very active social media channels.’

‘The best part of my day is speaking to people,’ Caroline says. ‘It's not just a shop, it's about connection, and I've made friends with so many of our customers. It makes me so happy to see the space we have here is really cherished by local people, and that they keep wanting to come back.’

Activities for kids throughout the year

Kids Stuff has created a loyal community of parents who often meet here with their children throughout the week. While the young ones can enjoy the enclosed play area, grown-ups can take advantage of the cake and drinks available from The Long Table.

There’s lots of regular events hosted by the team, and next on Caroline’s agenda is promoting their half term activities. ‘We hold craft sessions every Saturday and throughout the school holidays. There’s also our toddler group, Beautiful Brunch each Wednesday 10-12pm.’

Caroline’s focus for the rest of the day is their preparations for Christmas - a busy time of year for Kids Stuff. ‘We want to make sure that all local families know that Christmas shouldn’t cost the earth. The shop is filled with amazing gifts for all ages, and buying from us is helping to support struggling families through our referral scheme, while also reducing waste sent to landfill.’

Kids Stuff is open Tuesday to Saturday from 10am, with late opening 4.30pm - 6.30pm on Thursdays. See What’s On to find out about child friendly activities this month at Brimscombe Mill.
